Eleven Schuylkill County baseball teams are preparing to set out on a trek to capture a District 11 Championship and a trip to the PIAA state playoffs next month.

The Schuylkill League season wrapped up on Friday when Blue Mountain (19-4) defeated Tri-Valley (17-5) 3-2 to win the league championship.

“We wanted to add another chapter to the history of Blue Mountain baseball and we were able to do that,” Blue Mountain coach Jarrod Kramer said. “We’re so thrilled to be in this position right now.”

The Eagles now head into the District 11 Class 5A playoffs with a first round bye before they take on the winner of the Pottsville (13-8) and Pocono Mountain East (14-7) matchup in the semifinals on Saturday.

Tri-Valley has also received a first round bye in Class 2A, and will face either Schuylkill Haven (12-9) or Executive Education (11-8) in the semifinals next Sunday at North Schuylkill High School.

The top-seeded Bulldogs are one of six Schuylkill League teams in the Class 2A playoffs.

In the first round of Class 2A action, No. 5 Schuylkill Haven will take on No. 4 Executive Education, No. 3 Williams Valley (14-8) will face No. 6 Shenandoah Valley (12-8) and No. 2 Marian Catholic (16-4) will go up against No. 7 Minersville (8-12).
