So I'm watching the end of the Magic - Pistons game (which was pretty entertaining) and the announcers say that Grant Hill is a FA this summer and will probably look to join a championship caliber team. I don't know what kind of money he'll be looking for, but I would like him on the Suns if he'll take a vet min or lower level exemption like Jalen Rose did. I know Hill's always had a hard time staying healthy, but it wouldn't matter because he's be our 8th -9th man and he's always done well in a Point forward role.

Like many players, he isn't a good enough shooter to excel in the Sun's lineup. I would have to imagine he would get more playing time than Jalen Rose though. If the Lakers don't sign Walton, maybe they will go after Hill if they have a mid-level exception.

What is it with the 3-fascination?

Marion-Hill-Diaw-Jones-Rose?

If we trade Diaw or Jones (or both), I would be in support of bringing in Hill, but as we stand right now, I don't see the point....

This team should have pushed for an Alonzo Mourning or a Dikembe Mutumbo over the last few years instead of filling with forwards

If I was the Lakers and I had a choice between Walton and Grant Hill, I'd go Walton all the way--he's been almost nonexistant in our series, but he 's still really young and a good playmaker at the 3 spot--and will be that for a lot longer than Grant Hill will be.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Marion plays the 3/4, Diaw plays the 4/5 mostly, Jones plays the 2/3/4, and Rose doesn't play. So most of our 3's don't play the 3 spot very much. Furthermore, Hill is a better shooter than Marion, Diaw, and Jones.

I wouldn't mind the Suns picking up Hill, depending on how the draft goes and how cheap he'd be willing to come here for.

Lastly, maybe having another point forward on our roster is the perfect thing to both light a fire under Diaw's arse and also have someone who can be a mentor for Diaw.

Okay, since you asked, Diaw is playing 4/3 these days (or 4/1 if you prefer), now that Stoudemire and Thomas are the center rotation. Jones is playing almost exclusively 4 since he's been made a starter and has never played 2, in spite of persistent rumors and fantasies on this board.

The Suns' de facto backup SF these days is Bell.

So, we could use some depth at the 3 spot.

Isn't Mutumbo about 54 years old? Seriously.

And didn't Mourning come out of retirement soley to play for the Heat?

Mutumbo can't run with the Suns (or any other team for that matter), and Mourning only had 1 team on his wish list...

Most people would take Walton. Just to clarify, I wrote that I could see them going after Hill if they cannot resign Walton, not rather than Walton. Not sure if Walton is RFA or UFA, but some team might give him a decent offer that is too rich for the high-salary Lakers.

Isn't that what we said about Jalen Rose?

Despite injuries, if you watch Hill in game he can at least run the court some and drive to the basket. Rose is most effective posting up or isloating himself for a 15 foot jumper. They are two completely different players with different skill sets.

For what it's worth, Hill was 20 times the player Rose will ever be, he just has more game period even with 1 leg.
