I'm not informed enough to actually have a preference so I won't be unhappy with whoever the Cards get or don't get. I win!!!

and if Cards get table scrap HC just imagine the staff.
Personally...I don't get it. The Cards seem to think this is some 100 mile marathon, but it's not...it's a race. The longer you wait to hire a HC, the less options you're going to have for good assistant coaches, which is a vital aspect of any coaching staff. As they say...the early bird gets the worm. Cards are going to show up so late to the party that there won't be any worms left.

So there's still Schwartz, DeFilippo, Wilks, Armstrong, Munchak, and Flores.

Maybe it's nothing, but ESPN workers were gushing over Flores, and calling him a superstar when they said he was still in play for us.

There may not be many experienced head coaches we can hire on our list. But there are a few highly regarded up and comers on the list.

This could be a blessing in disguise for us. A young coach could be risky, or it could pay off big.

Reading more about Flores, he has been with the Patriots since 2004 after being a college player from 1999-2003 and has worked his way up from scouting assistant. Worked on special teams, and multiple places on defense.

He indeed could be the dark horse. His team is still in the playoffs. By process of elimination, he's the only one still left on a team in the playoffs. If we're waiting, it's likely because of him.

I know it goes against our tradition as a franchise to be smarter then everyone else, as many times, we were the foolish organization, but I'm not going to fret yet.

The Lions got who they wanted, but the Colts, Titans, Giants all seem like flailing franchises. More willing to make the 'safe' hire because they aren't run well enough anymore to make anything other than that.

They may have gotten 'their' guy, but they might not be proficient enough as an organization to judge anything other then retreads.

They race for what they know. We're looking for the best candidate overall, and it's very possible that guy hasn't been hired yet.

The early bird might get the worm, but our bird might be clever enough to find a worm farm.

If Shurmur has agreed to sign with the Giants then the Cards probably didn't see him as a fit anyway. They are going to take their time & find the guy that is right. They aren't going to rush out & sign a guy just to sign a guy. It's not going to be Munchak or Bettcher. Otherwise they would have signed them already.

It's one of the Eagles or Flores for us. Wilks would've been nice but he will choose the Titans rather than wait if the Cards will maybe hire him in a week or two.

I read where Schwartz had an interview with Cards then canceled an interview with Giants. When asked Schwartz would only talk about their next game and not about why he canceled his interview with NY. At the time I wondered if that meant anything, but haven't heard anything about him since....
