The number of key players not scheduled to play in Sunday afternoon's game between the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium continues to grow.
After previously ruling out tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring) and defensive lineman D.J. Davidson (neck/concussion), the Giants have announced that starting center John Michael Schmitz and tight end Theo Johnson have been ruled out for Sunday's game.
Schmitz and Johnson are not the only starters who will not play on Sunday. Thomas and safety Tyler Nubin have also been ruled out.
The Raiders announced this week that two All-Pros, tight end Brock Bowers and defensive end Maxx Crosby, have been shut down for the remainder of the season, along with safety Jeremy Chinn.
In a game between two 2-13 clubs on nine-game losing streaks who are playing for the No. 1 pick in next year's NFL draft, it appears both sides are content with going with skeleton crews. The loser will be the real winner on Sunday.

This is part of the Raiders' 'soft tank'. They can't rely on the Giants beating them straight-up (can you blame them?), so they are shutting down some of their best players for the rest of the season to give themselves a better chance at the No. 1 pick.
It's tough to tank on… https://t.co/FcLAeFt7Cn
