If the Giants mercifully snap a league-worst nine-game losing streak on the road Sunday against the Raiders, they'll do so without their most important offensive lineman.
Andrew Thomas has been ruled out for the Giants' upcoming trip to Las Vegas, dealing with a hamstring injury suffered in last Sunday's home loss to the Vikings.
While the postgame evaluation of Thomas' injury didn't reveal anything serious, he was unable to participate in practice this week.
Thomas' leg tightened up on a run play against the Vikings inside the red zone, early in the second quarter. After spending a few moments down on the turf and walking gingerly off the field with trainers, Marcus Mbow took over in Thomas' place. He was eventually ruled out during the third quarter.
Before practice Friday, Giants head coach Mike Kafka said Mbow would once again fill in at left tackle if they felt Thomas wasn't healthy enough to play.
There was no incentive for the Giants to rush Thomas back into action. The six-year veteran spent the past offseason working back from a foot injury that required season-ending surgery in October 2024.
Meanwhile, safety Tyler Nubin (neck), offensive lineman Evan Neal (neck), defensive lineman D.J. Davidson (neck/concussion), and receiver Beaux Collins (neck/concussion) are also ruled out for Sunday.
Thomas is among a few Giants linemen dealing with injuries, as center John Michael Schmitz (finger) is considered doubtful and Joshua Ezeudu (calf) is listed questionable.
Sunday's meeting between the Giants and Raiders can already be labeled one of the worst in NFL history. According to the Elias Sports Bureau (h/t Jordan Raanan), it's the first-ever matchup etween teams both entering with single-season losing skids of nine-plus games.
