It’s time to start preparing for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era.

Name: Amare’ Gough
Position: Wide Receiver
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’ 1”
Weight: 185 lbs.
Hometown: Richmond, VA
High School: Thomas Jefferson
2025 stats:
Grabbed 33 receptions for 494 yards and 5 TDs. Was named All-State in Virginia.
2026 projections:
Gough was overshadowed by Calvin Russell, but he was another strong addition to the class. He’s an explosive athlete who could get a look at a returner spot and will likely crack the receiver rotation at some point this fall. I’d expect we see a couple of designed plays to try and get him the ball in space.
How’d he get here?:
Had a slew of offers, but chose Syracuse over Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland.
What’d recruiting sites say?:
Four stars from ESPN and 247, three stars from Rivas. Top 10 player in Virginia.
