Gerry Sandusky, the longtime “Voice of the Ravens,” is retiring after nearly 42 years in broadcasting. A Baltimore native, Sandusky has been a fixture at WBAL-TV 11 since joining the station in 1988, eventually rising to sports director in 1993. Over the years, he became one of the most recognizable figures in local sports media, serving as the radio play-by-play voice of the Ravens since 2006 and helping chronicle some of the franchise’s most memorable moments, including its Super Bowl XLVII championship run. Known for his signature storytelling style and memorable catchphrase “the hay is in the barn,” Sandusky’s voice became synonymous with Ravens football for generations of fans.
