German team bosses have accepted the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) decision to bar skier Luis Vogt from next month's Winter Games.

After Vogt's eighth place in the recent Kitzbühel downhill, the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) tried to register the 23-year-old for Milan/Cortina after the nomination deadline due to injury concerns over Alexander Schmid. But the IOC rejected the application.

"We did everything we could to help Luis Vogt start at the Olympics via an exemption. We now of course accept that the IOC is following the rules and is not granting an approval," Olaf Tabor, the DOSB's board member for elite sport and chef de mission at the Winter Olympics, said in a statement on Wednesday.

No appeal against the IOC decision is planned.

The latter's ankle injury looks set to heal in time. Vogt could therefore only be called into the team if the injury situation changes.

The last team alteration is possible on the day of the opening ceremony on February 6. The men's Olympic downhill is the next day.

"Since all five international quota places are taken, we unfortunately cannot currently nominate Luis for the Games," said Wolfgang Maier, the German Ski Association's sporting director.
