Germany's 2010 and 2014 Olympic luge champion Felix Loch will continue his career and bid to compete at the 2030 Winter Olympics, he said on Instagram on Tuesday.

After lengthy discussions with his family, the 36-year-old decided that he will keep competing "as long as I'm healthy and fit.

"I love my sport. And as long as I can compete at the front, I will give everything to be back and compete for our German team in 2030," he wrote.

Loch had a disappointing result at the Milan/Cortina Games, finishing sixth in the singles having been fourth in 2022 and fifth in 2018.

His next short-term goal is to win this season's overall World Cup title. He tops the standings, but is just one point ahead of Austria's Jonas Müller.

"There are still two races left where I will battle it out with Jonas. I would be delighted, then we could say it's been a conciliatory season. But at the moment, it's bitter," the multiple World Cup winner admitted.
