Ahead of a summer break, George Pickens is back with the Dallas Cowboys. And the Pro Bowl wide receiver plans on forging ahead with the team once players and staff reconvene as well.
After reporting to the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp, Pickens said on June 16 that he would be a full participant in training camp as well as the regular season, nixing any lingering notion of a holdout.
Pickens sat out the voluntary portion of the offseason after the Cowboys revealed they would not negotiate a long-term extension with him, preferring instead to keep him on the franchise tag. Upon meeting with the media, Pickens told reporters that he abstained from those workouts at the recommendation of his agent.
With preparations for the season set to ramp up in late July, Pickens confirmed he would be back in full action at training camp.
"What's important to me is winning," Pickens told reporters, per The Athletic. "Like I said from the beginning, I always wanna bring a Super Bowl to a group of guys that never had that feeling. That's really the most important part to me."
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said prior to practice that Pickens would go through walkthrough and individual drills but remain out of the team session as he acclimated.
"Really great visits with George," Schottenheimer said. "Fired up to have him back, he's fired up to be here."
Pickens enjoyed a career year in his first season with Dallas, posting personal bests of 93 catches, 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdown catches. He is set to play on a fully guaranteed franchise tender worth $27.3 million.
