Barcelona midfielder Gavi has revealed he’s always dreamed of scoring the winner in the World Cup final with a bicycle kick.

Gavi is currently preparing for a quarter-final tie with Belgium and spoke about how he’d love to face Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the final.

“Of course I hope to be important in the World Cup. I dream of scoring the title-winning goal. I’ve always dreamed of scoring a bicycle kick in the World Cup final,” he told reporters.

“They’re dreams, and I hope they come true. The opponent? I’d like Argentina because of Leo Messi, but as long as we reach the final, it doesn’t matter who it is.”

Gavi started Spain’s opening game of the World Cup but has only featured once since as a substitute. He admits he wants to play more but that the team comes first.

“I came here to win the World Cup. The manager knows me better than anyone. We all want to play more, but what really matters is winning the World Cup. He knows he can count on me for anything he needs,” he added.

“I don’t like to talk about that. Belgium has magnificent players, as does Portugal. We have to do our job very well. If we do, things will surely turn out well. The important thing is to beat Belgium. France or Morocco? They are two great teams, but I would say Morocco, because they eliminated us in Qatar.”

Spain take on Belgium on Friday and know a victory will see them progress to a semi-final against France or Morocco.
