After winning their first two games and the opening series of the season, things have not gone great for the Detroit Tigers. Since then, AJ Hinch’s team has lost nine of the last 11, including a four-game sweep on the road against the Minnesota Twins this week to make it five straight defeats.

They did take a home series from the St. Louis Cardinals last weekend, but that seems like forever ago right now.

The Motor City Kitties return home this weekend to host the Miami Marlins for a three-game set starting on Friday night. The Fish are off to a strong start to the 2026 campaign after projecting as a bottom-dweller coming out of the preseason; they are currently tied with the Atlanta Braves for the top spot in the NL East.

To kick the six-game homestand off — which sees the Kansas City Royals follow the Marlins next Tuesday — Detroit has right-hander Keider Montero taking the mound. Meanwhile, Miami sounds the old friend alert (maybe “friend” is a bit of a stretch) with fellow righty Chris Paddack taking the bump inside Comerica Park.

Here is a quick look at how they match up.
