Florida State first baseman Myles Bailey will miss the rest of the 2026 season, the Seminoles announced Sunday.

They announced that he has undergone a successful surgery after suffering a leg injury against the Duke Blue Devils and is expected to make a full recovery. Head coach Link Jarrett also issued a statement.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Myles for a full, speedy recovery. I have not coached a player with a better combination of work ethic, character, and skill. His application of work allowed Myles to develop into a spectacular player both offensively and at first base. He has amazing parents, who molded him into a wonderful young man. Our medical team was fully engaged from the moment he was injured. He will recover from this injury and return to his dynamic form."

Bailey suffered the injury sliding into second base during FSU's 12-11 win over Duke on Saturday. They had attempted to pick him off, but a bad throw allowed him to break for second, where he slid late and immediately gestured for help before he was stretchered off and to the ambulance.

He has been FSU's top player this season, emerging as one of the best first basemen in the country. The Tallahassee native hit his 13th homer of the season earlier in the game. He hit .363 this season with a .913 slugging percentage and 33 RBI. He has walked 35 times this season, with teams consistently pitching around him and intentionally walking him 10 times.

He was replaced by Eli Putnam at first, who is also starting at first in Sunday's series finale against Duke. Bailey is a draft-eligible sophomore.
