why would Charlotte want to help out Boston?

It will allow the Hornets to more easily pay Hayward the salary he wants and preserve salary space to pay their own players. Also the Hornets and Celtics might want to exchange players. It usually involves draft picks as well.

The Lakers did and sign with the Suns for Steve Nash which allowed them to pay him more money.

If we can somehow pull Riller that would be pretty good. Especially if we strike out on Napier.

So the suns are at about 110 million of cap space used right now.

The luxury tax is I think 132

So, the odds of us signing Baynes is probably remote if we plan on keeping Dario and Carter.

Hate to say it, but other than some min deals our roster is probably set.

The most Saric and Carter should cost combined is $12 million. That gives us $10 million to play with.

What about the other 4 guys at the minimum we need to sign - they count towards the cap too don't they.

For $110 million, we already have:

Paul
Booker
Bridges
Crowder
Ayton
Payne
Okobo
Nader
Cam
Smith

Add Saric and Carter, and that should give us at least $10 million to fill two or three spots (assuming Saric gets no more than the MLE, which he shouldn't).

Nice to have Jevon Carter back. It's a very reasonable contract. I wonder if there are any options in it.

EDIT: Looks like we locked Carter up long term at a higher salary, so make that $8 million instead of $10 million.

I'm just saying at this point with no known interest for Bayne, the most likely outcome is going to be us renouncing him.

It depends. We still have at least a couple of holes on the roster to fill (specifically at least two of the following: insurance PG, back-up SG, back-up SF and beefier back-up big). It would help tremendously if we could get a capable back up who can play either the 1 and the 2 or the 2 and the 3.

Without better options the Suns need to bring Baynes back. Suns need a backup center behind Ayton.

Why? There's no point in doing that

The point is sarver is not going to approach the tax - he is not missing out on revenue sharing.

Suns don't want Baynes back, they only want him as a trade asset.

That's what Jalen Smith is.

But yes it would be nice to get another big body for the dwight Howards of the league.

Sure it would, but they would have to have a salary below 8 million and a team would have to be willing to give them up for Baynes.

We got completely screwed when we lost out on George Hill, they had no use for him and wanted Baynes. I don't think there is another situation like that out there anymore.

Definitely need another big body. Never know how quickly a rookie develops. Fouls and injuries are a part of the game.
