Over the last few weeks, the Texas Longhorns have been busy on the recruiting trail. While they have started filling their 2027 class, there are still many spots up for grabs. That includes at wide receiver, where Steve Sarkisian and his staff received an encouraging update on Tuesday. Four-star recruit Trenton Yancey revealed that he will be in Austin from June 12-14 for an official visit.
Currently, the Texas native is ranked as the 26th best wide receiver in his class by 247Sports. They also rank the Duncanville High star as the 25th best player from the Lone Star state and 174th best in the nation. The high praise comes following a very productive start to his high school career.
In his first two seasons, the Longhorns recruiting target hauled in 89 passes for 1,246 yards. He also found the end zone 12 times and was a threat on the ground. In that span, Yancey recorded over 200 rushing yards, showing that he can make an impact in various ways.
Due to his impressive play, Yancey has caught the attention of scouts nationwide. The talented wide receiver has received offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Arizona State, Alabama, Arizona, Baylor, Michigan, and Michigan State. That is not an easy list of schools to go to battle with, as they have all had various degrees of success over the last decade.
When Yancey is on campus, the goal for Sarkisian will be to show him why Austin is the best place to start his college career. The 2027 class is already ranked among the top 10 in the nation, with plenty of talent on the board. Texas has secured commitments from four-star wide receiver Easton Royal, three-star edge Cameron Hall, and three-star tight end JT Geraci. That list should continue to grow.
While Yancey’s decision is still months away, the Longhorns will get the chance to make their best pitch in person.
