Gabe York can check another box off his long and winding post-Arizona career.
The former Wildcat guard has been named to Team USA’s qualifying squad for the 2027 FIBA World Cup. He’ll suit up for games next month in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
York, 32, most recently played for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the Chinese Basketball Association, averaging 13.8 points and 3.3 assists while playing alongside fellow ex-UA guard Brandon Randolph. He is also set to complete in the annual winner-take-all event The Basketball Tournament for Davis Steel.
Since finishing his UA career in 2016, York has played in the NBA, G League and pro leagues in Italy, Germany, France, Israel, Puerto Rico, Spain and China. He appeared in five games for the Indiana Pacers (alongside UA legend TJ McConnell) in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
At Arizona, York played in 124 games with 59 starts from 2012-16, and as a senior averaged 15 points per game while leading the Pac-12 in 3-point shooting (42.1 percent).
Team USA, which has won the last four World Cups, is currently 3-1’and tied for first in Group A of qualifying with Dominican Republic, which it visits July to 3 before facing Mexico on July 6.
