Former Washington Huskies star Keion Brooks Jr. made an impression in his NBA Summer League debut for the Indiana Pacers on Friday evening in a 99-93 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Coming off the bench, Brooks provided a major spark. The Kentucky transfer, who spent his last two seasons on Montlake under coach Mike Hopkins, played 14 minutes and posted 11 points on a 3-for-7 performance from the field, while adding 5 rebounds, an assist, and a blocked shot in the victory.
Brooks finished the game with a +/- of +18, the type of impact head coach Rick Carlisle is looking for as he attempts to fill out his bench with some depth on the wing.
After not making any selections in the 2026 NBA draft, the organization is hoping to add veteran depth, a role Brooks is perfectly suited for with 13 NBA games under his belt. Over that time, he made 6 starts and averaged 10.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from behind the three-point line.
Brooks has also stood out in the G League, where he's averaged 16.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game across 60 appearances, which could help make him a suitable rotation piece behind former first-round pick Aaron Nesmith if he can sustain his level of play.
Brooks and the Pacers will return to the floor at 2:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, July 11, to take on the Philadelphia 76ers.
