Playing on a new stage didn't phase former Alabama basketball guard Labaron Philon Jr in his NBA Summer League debut.

The Mobile native was drafted 22nd overall in the NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers in June and made his first appearance as No. 00 on Thursday, July 9 against the Detroit Pistons.

In 29 minutes, Philon scored 18 points. He went 6-for-19 from the field and 4-for-10 from the arc. His efforts, which included three rebounds, were highlighted by a team-best seven assists.

Philon signed a 4-year deal with the Sixers valued at $17.8 million, including $7.37 million guaranteed at signing, per Spotrac. He will bring in an average salary of $4.5 million.

During the 101-93 win for the Sixers, organization president Mike Gansey was asked by the broadcast if he though Philon could make his way into the starting rotation.

"Yeah, you would hope so," Gansey smiled. "We're excited about him."

Philadelphia will take the floor again on Saturday, July 11 when the Sixers meet the Indiana Pacers. The game will be shown on Prime Video starting at 4:30 p.m. CT.
