The New England Patriots could look to move on from a former third-round pick ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

New England is set to begin OTAs in the coming days as the 2026 NFL season is already approaching. After reaching the Super Bowl last season, New England has plenty of expectations on the team this season, so making the 53-man roster this season won’t be easy.

Ahead of OTAs and training camp, Patriots insider Chad Graff of The Athletic named Caedan Wallace as a potential cut candidate, despite being a third-round pick just two years ago.

“The Patriots drafted Wallace in the third round two years ago with hopes that he’d develop into a starting tackle,” Graff wrote in an article published on Wednesday. “Then, a new coaching staff moved him to guard in an attempt to bring out the best in him.

“Neither approach has led to meaningful playing time, and now Wallace is on the roster bubble with a chance of becoming the latest player from the team’s disastrous 2024 draft to be cut. Wallace played just eight offensive snaps last season.”

Wallace hasn’t developed into the starting-level tackle that the Patriots have hoped. And, after New England drafted Caleb Lomu in the first round, who’s expected to be the swing tackle this season.

The Patriots selected Wallace with the 68th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after spending his college career at Penn State.

New England will have OTAs on May 27, May 29, June 1–2, June 4, June 8–9, and June 11, while the mandatory minicamp will be June 15-17 before training camp begins in mid-to-late July.
