Bobby Slowik is getting a second chance to call an offense in 2026.
The former Houston Texans offensive coordinator will be promoted by the Miami Dolphins for the same title under new coach Jeff Hafley. Slowik, who was fired by the Texans following a divisional round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last season, spent the 2025 season as the Dolphins' passing game coordinator.
The Dolphins' passing offense struggled in 2025 under quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, ranking 25th in passing and relying heavily on the run game. The expectation is for Slowik to work with a new quarterback in 2026 since the two sides are expected to have a change of scenery this offseason.
Initially hired from San Francisco with DeMeco Ryans in 2023, Slowik spent two seasons as the Texans' play-caller coordinator. During the first year with C.J. Stroud at quarterback, Houston finished 12th in both yards per game (342.4) and scoring (22.2 points per game) while finishing with a division title. Last season, everything regressed, including Stroud's overall play. The total offense dropped to 22nd while scoring fell to 19th en route to a second 10-win season.
The Texans are expected to retain Nick Caley for a second season after the Texans finished with 12 wins for the first time since 2012.
