The NFL is full of rising coaching stars, and one prospect who had his ascension halted while in Houston is prepared to take advantage of a big opportunity. Adam Schefter reports that the Eagles requested to interview Dolphins senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik for their offensive coordinator position.

A 13-year NFL veteran coach, Slowik, the former offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans for two seasons, joined the Miami Dolphins as the senior pass game coordinator in 2025.

Prior to joining the Texans, Slowik spent six seasons (2017-22) with the San Francisco 49ers, rising to game coordinator (2022) after serving one season as game specialist (2021) and two seasons as an offensive assistant (2019-20). Slowik's first role with the 49ers was on the other side of the ball as a defensive quality control coach (2017-18).

In his first year as Houston's offensive coordinator in 2023, the Texans ranked seventh in the NFL in yards per game (245.5) and second in pass plays over 25 yards (41). Slowik played a key role in C.J. Stroud's development during his rookie season and helped him have a historic one. Stroud completed 319-of-499 passes for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, five interceptions, and a passer rating of 100.8. He amassed 4,557 yards, including the postseason, which was second-most by a rookie in NFL history. Stroud also led the NFL in pass yards per game (273.9) and was named the PFWA Offensive Rookie of the Year for 2023.

In 2024, his second season as offensive coordinator, the Texans progressed to the Divisional Round, marking only the second time in franchise history the team did so in back-to-back seasons (2012-13). In his second season, Stroud completed 336-of-532 passes for 3,727 yards and 20 touchdowns. His 336 completions ranked fifth-most in the AFC in 2024. With Slowik at the helm in his Stroud's first two seasons, the former Ohio State quarterback set a franchise record for most yards (7,835) and completions (655) in that span while also becoming the first Texans quarterback to record two playoff wins.
