A former national champion pitcher is the new Colorado State softball coach.
CSU announced the hiring of Michelle Gascoigne on June 8.
Gascoigne comes to CSU after spending the last 11 seasons as the pitching coach at Northwestern in the Big Ten.
Northwestern went 360-195-1 in her time, making NCAA regionals eight times and once making the Women's College World Series (2022). The 2022 team was led by Big Ten Pitcher of the Year Danielle Williams, who was an All-American that season.
Gascoigne had a pitcher on the All-Big Ten team in 10 of her 11 seasons. That included two Big Ten Pitcher of the Year award winners from 2022-2024.
Before coaching at Northwestern, Gascoigne was a star pitcher at powerhouse Oklahoma. Gascoigne threw a three-hit shutout to secure the 2013 national title for Oklahoma.
Gascoigne went 49-7 in the circle in her college career with a 1.65 ERA and 507 strikeouts in 378 innings pitched. She held opponents to a .189 average. Gascoigne was one of 10 finalists for the 2013 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award.
After her college career, Gascoigne began playing professionally for the National Pro Fastpitch's Chicago Bandits. Gascoigne was an All-NPF selection in both 2013 and 2014.
Gascoigne replaces Jen Fisher, who stepped down in May following 16 seasons leading the Rams and departing as the program's all-time winningest coach.
Gascoigne takes over as the Rams move into the Pac-12.
