Butch Huskey, a slugging outfielder who spent five of his seven major league seasons with the New York Mets, died according to a team announcement.
“We are saddened to learn about the passing of former Met Butch Huskey,” the team wrote on its official Twitter/X account on Aug. 14.

A native of Oklahoma, Huskey was drafted by the Mets in the seventh round out of high school in 1989. He debuted four years later.
Huskey slashed .267/.418/.442 with 86 home runs and 336 RBIs for the Mets (1993-98), Seattle Mariners (1999), Boston Red Sox (1999), Minnesota Twins (2000), Colorado Rockies (2000).
