The Kansas City Chiefs made a significant free agent splash in the signing of running back Kenneth Walker III at the start of the offseason. The intention is to revamp the running game, and the change almost happened during the trade deadline last season.

The New York Jets were reportedly close to trading running back Breece Hall to the Chiefs before the 2025 trade deadline, but a deal never materialized. Rumors swirled that Kansas City refused to part with a third-round pick, leading to Hall remaining in New York for the remainder of the season. Last week, Hall and the Jets agreed to a three-year contract extension that includes $29 million in guarantees, with an average per year ($14.5 million) ranking fourth among NFL running backs.

The #Jets and star RB Breece Hall have a deal, extending him long-term rather than have him play on the tag.

Hall’s new contract puts him behind Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, and Derrick Henry but slightly past Super Bowl LX MVP Walker’s $14.35 million with Kansas City.

During the 2025 season, Hall rushed for 1,065 yards to go along with four touchdowns. He was also effective in the passing game with 36 receptions for 350 yards for a Jets team that struggled offensively without consistent quarterback efficiency.
