The NCAA Men's Final Four will take place this weekend, marking a significant moment for the basketball world. In conjunction with this event, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 inductees on Tuesday, including former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Rivers is now part of this year's prestigious class alongside Amar'e Stoudemire, Candace Parker and Elena Delle Donne. With 27 years of NBA coaching experience, Rivers truly shone during his tenure with the Celtics from 2004 to 2013, widely regarded as the pinnacle of his career.
The Celtics won the 2007-08 NBA title under Rivers and also made the NBA Finals in 2010, but fell to the Los Angeles Lakers.
After leaving the Celtics, Rivers took the helm of the Los Angeles Clippers, where he had star players like forward Blake Griffin and guard Chris Paul. However, he was ultimately unable to lead the team to a championship. The same situation unfolded during his three seasons coaching the Philadelphia 76ers, during which he couldn't achieve playoff success.
The 64-year-old head coach has taken the reins with the Bucks, but this could be one of his final seasons in coaching. With Milwaukee likely to miss the playoffs this year, there's buzz that they might trade star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer, potentially leading to an overhaul.
