Doc Rivers' wait to get into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame appears to be over.
According to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania on March 31, Rivers will be among the inductees in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2026.
The Hall of Fame will make its official announcement on April 4 at the NCAA Final Four in Indianapolis.
Rivers was nominated as a coach, but his local basketball connections go back to when he was a player at Marquette from 1980-83. He then played in the NBA from 1983-96.
Rivers began coaching in 1999-2000 with the Orlando Magic, and was the NBA coach of the year that season. He won a NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2008, and also had coaching stints with the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers.
In the 2023-24 season, he was working as a broadcaster for ESPN, but was hired by the Bucks in January 2024 after Adrian Griffin was fired.
Rivers' career coaching record is 1,191-86. He is 94-98 with the Bucks.
