After one season with the Cleveland Browns, veteran safety Rayshawn Jenkins has signed with an AFC North rival. He has inked a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers as all 32 teams trek deeper into training camp across the league (according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz).
Jenkins, who was signed as a veteran placeholder with the Browns a year ago, inked just a one-year deal and re-hit free agency this past offseason. The writing was seemingly on the wall for the veteran after the Browns selected Toledo standout safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Now, Jenkins is off to his fifth team as he enters the 10th season of his NFL career.
While Jenkins was not a starter for the Browns a year ago, playing behind both Grant Delpit and Ronnie Hickman on the depth chart, he did see a substantial number of snaps when all three were on the field. To be exact, the now-32-year-old safety saw 277 snaps with the Browns a year ago.
In his 17 games and three starts for the Browns a year ago, Jenkins racked up 45 tackles, one interception, one pass defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He filled the role of that third safety on the defensive side of the football after the retirement of Rodney McLeod.
