Jaylen Brown is coming off the best season of his career, and the Boston Celtics swingman will become eligible for a $141.9 million contract extension this offseason.
The Boston Celtics front office must decide whether now is the time to give Brown another huge payday that would kick in during his age-33 season. In a recent interview with Heavy on Sports, Evan Turner advised Brown to think long and hard about his future before agreeing to a new deal with the team.
“I think the Celtics will reward him in that sense for his work,” Turner explained. “I can see him being a top-10, top-15 player, and an NBA All-Star (next season). Averaging 25, 26 points per game. He takes very good care of his body; he competes at a high level. I don’t think he’s ever really had any history of being injured. Not even the stuff that scares everybody, the soft tissue injuries.”
“I think him going into that negotiation, and having real conversations on if he wants to be there and if that’s what he really wants. Because when people sit there and say, ‘I want to be in Boston forever.’ All right, cool. We’re going to put this down on the table if you really want to be in Boston forever. Or, do you want to explore the hypotheticals?” he added.

Jaylen Brown was recently linked to a move to the New Orleans Pelicans, where the Boston Celtics would likely receive Zion Williamson as part of the package. However, this is far from the truth, per Shamit Dua of WDSU.
“To my understanding, there has been no discussion between Boston and New Orleans on Jaylen Brown as of this moment,” Dua stated on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“I do believe the Pelicans will be aggressive in reshaping their roster this summer, and it’s possible that Brown is name they check in on. But I don’t believe the Pelicans have plans to mortgage their future in terms of significant draft capital in any moves,” he concluded.
