Announced by the organization Thursday, the Atlanta Braves have recalled former Alabama baseball shortstop Jim Jarvis to the major leagues.
Jarvis, a four-year starter at Alabama from 2020-23, previously made his MLB debut with Atlanta earlier this season, appearing in only two games before being optioned back to the minor leagues. Over those two games, Jarvis went 1-for-5 offensively, picking up his first major league hit in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
So far this season, Jarvis has shone at the Triple-A level of Atlanta's organization with the Gwinnett Stripers. Jarvis is currently enjoying likely the best season of his professional career with Gwinnett, slashing .313/.406/.461 with six home runs, 36 RBI, and 32 stolen bases.
While unknown how long Jarvis' latest promotion to the major leagues could last, there is certainly reason to believe the former Alabama standout could potentially stick around in Atlanta if he performs well, especially with the recent struggles of Braves starting shortstop Ha-Seong Kim.
Jarvis currently ranks as Atlanta's No. 29 overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
