The Pittsburgh Steelers' countdown to kickoff is full steam ahead for the 2026 NFL regular season, with fans needing to wait only 73 more days until the Steel City brand of football returns when the Steelers host the Atlanta Falcons on September 13.
In the spirit of the countdown, we at Steelers Wire will take a look at the history of the No. 73 jersey and analyze which players wore it best.
Drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, rookie guard Gennings Dunker is the current No. 73 wearer on the roster.
One of the most underrated guards in Pittsburgh Steelers history, Ramon Foster is the greatest No. 73 to ever don the Black and Gold.
Foster, who signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2009, quickly emerged as a starting-caliber guard, appearing in 160 games and making 145 starts during his 11-year career.
Proving that the best ability is availability, Foster never missed more than two games due to injury in a single season from 2011 to 2019, anchoring an offensive line tasked with protecting future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger. There's no greater wearer of No. 73 in Steelers history than Foster.
