The Pittsburgh Steelers' countdown to kickoff continues to roll on ahead of the 2026 NFL regular season, with fans needing to wait only 90 more days until the Steel City brand of football hosts the Atlanta Falcons on September 13.
In the spirit of the countdown, we at Steelers Wire will take a look at the history of the No. 90 jersey and analyze which players wore it best.
T.J. Watt is the current No. 90 wearer on the Steelers' roster. And surprise, surprise, this isn't his only appearance on our countdown to kickoff for Day 90.
There is no debate: T.J. Watt is the greatest Steeler to ever wear No. 90, and it isn't close.
Drafted by the Steelers with the 30th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Watt went on to appear in 135 games during his nine year NFL career, all of which were starts. He has recorded 115 sacks (the most in Steelers history), 517 combined tackles, 136 tackles for loss, and 244 quarterback hits from 2017 to 2025.
Earning eight Pro Bowl honors, four First-Team All-Pro selections, one Second-Team All-Pro selection, and being named the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year, Watt is more than deserving of being recognized as the best to ever wear No. 90 in Steelers history.
