I would rather not get into a discussion of minority hiring practices, my point was what the national press perceive as acceptable not me.

You are still missing my point Cheese, I agree with a lot of your concerns/comment and you don't seem to realize that. I do differ on some (but not all) of your interpretations and I like you am terribly afraid of what may result this season. I'm just hoping for the best but fearing the worst. None of this has anything to do with this thread.

All I am trying to say is that the National press seem to find it amusing to dump on the Cards. That's it, nothing more ! What is so hard to swallow about that statement. You keep giving me reasons why they are justified in doing it, not the point.

Now I'm being accused of thinking there is a conspiracy against us, good grief. There is a bias against us and it's mostly because a lot of people get a chuckle of making fun of people when they are down. If you don't believe me try to remember our buddy Billy Kimble and his amusement at BG's injury, same deal. He thought it was funny that BG got hurt.

As for azcardsfan1616, show me where I've said they will go 10-6 or where I've said I think we will have stunnilgy good team this year. Don't put words in my mouth Az.

Where is the racism as far as the scorn Rod Graves has recieved - you're way out of line here Nidan and that sentence is ridiculous.

Good try though.

Does what the national media say mean that much to you? All the crap and hoopla that went on during the draft was ridculous and without forethought. More and more articles about the draft are now revising their opinions and some have even graded the Cards at a C+ or B-. Not bad for a team that screwed up so badly on draft day.

The national media's opinion doesn't matter to me, but I do agree with it and if you think NFL players aren't swayed by the media perception of us and seeing us ragged on on Sportscenter then you are deluding yourself. And where are these revisions of our draft you are talking about - I sure as hell have not seen any of them.

I think the Rams are improved. They might be better off w/ Bulger at QB than Warner, though.

To me, Erickson for mooch is not a good trade.

In case you are still having a problem understanding, I've thought of a couple of good examples.

Would Billy Kimble do a comedy (using the word real creativly) routine about how funny it was for a "name player here" if the player were

a) Bret Farve
b) Mike Vick
c) Stephen Davis

Whoa whoa whoa.... Hang on there hoss.

Erickson's record in the NFL is the exact same record that has put his replacement Holmgren on one of the hottest seats in the NFL.

They let 3/4 of their D line go. No way does Anthony Adams replace Stubby. Okeafor was average at best, but now they have Engleberger starting, and right now Jim Freaking Flannigan is penciled in at DT next to Young, their only quality lineman who's coming off an average season and offseason shoulder surgery.

Their putrid pass defense went nowhere in the offseason.

I totally disagree on the Niners' offseason.

Bengals- much improved defense on the line and in the secondary. Made up for Takeo spikes loss with quality LB's have quality depth at QB now. Marvin Lewis new head coach should have been a coach years ago.

Browns- In the draft added depth at O-line and RB. Having two very good QB's. IMO an improved LB core which now is in a new system. Resigned Jamel white and have green coming back healthy.

Rams- no more injuries. Kurt is 100 percent. resigned Holt to a 7 year deal. really made the o-line better with the trade for turley, franchised Pace, and gained depth at ont Defensive line in the draft. Also signed sehorn and is playing well so far at S.

Cowboys-Bill parcells is there which is enough but they also added some depth in the secondary when they added newman to go along with williams. The defense is solid.

Hows that.

I like the Bengals even more. They are improved as well, but an tough early season schedule could put them out of playoff contention in September. Nothing new for Cinci, but they could come on in the 2nd half and be a team to watch for in 2004.

The only positive I've heard about the Rams is that all their injured players will be back this year and the team will return to it's 2001 form.

My question is, what about the Cards and Seahawks? They were also decimated by injuries last year and all their top players will be back.

Also, what happens if Warner has lost it and Faulk has lingering problems with his injuries and personal problems? How much will Faulk miss Hodgins blocking for him? What happens if Pace decides to sit out for a few games because of a contract dispute?

Questions, questions, questions, all 4 teams in this division have lots of questions this year than can affect their play dramatically. IMO, it's just as easy to believe that the Cards have addressed their questions and will be highly competitive this year as it is to believe that the Rams can overcome all their obstacles and the Niners coaching change was a good one.

So your opinion is that the Bengals, Browns, and Cowboys have all improved more than the Cards this year and will beat the Cards during the regular season? What about the Lions, a loss there too?

Did i ever say that they would beat us? I said that they have improved more than the cards. But i think the boys and the browns will beat us and the bengals game is to close to call.

You are the only person I've seen who thinks the Bengals have replace/compensated for losing Spikes.

Pace is holding out and won't be in camp (from Rams front office). I don't see how the Rams have improved unless you have crytal ball an know if Warner will return to form and they won't go 0-5 again.

Unlike his previous stops Parcells is not the GM and does not select players. Also he does not have his Def guy, who stayed as head coach of the Patriots. They are many questions how succesful he will be. In either case, in the past he has always taken 2+ years to improve things and that was with total control. At best the Felons are treading water and still don't have any kind of NFL QB, heck I'd take Jake over both those guys.

How can anybody suggest the niners have got better ?

Seriously, it’s ridiculous to equate the Rams w/ the Cards. St. Louis was 14-2 in 2001, while the Cards were 7-9. Fewer injuries could push the Rams back into Super Bowl contention. At the most, they could only push the Cardinals out of the top 15 of the draft. And that’s reaching if you ask me.

Warner had a physical and was cleared and is 100 percent, pace is franchised and will IMO have a one year deal. Parcells probably has one of the best defenses he has ever coached in dallas. Have you looked at their defense? Young explosive and extremely talented. I do not see a weak spot on their defense. Spikes was a big loss but lewis is a good enough coach to find ways around that.

He is not equating them, just saying why would anybody say the Rams have improved ?

It's a relative statement not an absolute one. ie Have the Rams/Cardinals improved from last. Not are the Cardinals better than the Rams, that I think will revolve around Warners arm (and how long Martz plays him it it is bad) and how much MF misses our new FB.

I read a few weeks ago that Pace is looking for a blockbuster deal and will not play until he gets it.

I don['t remember the detail but I do remember being stunned by what he was asking for.
