That may be an option. Right now we are just trying to figure out how to handle this. After some discussion with the "big boys" of the moderator world we are going to try a smack thread.

I am going to be a glass half full guy and hope it works out. At least it gives us a place to merge silliness.

We're only going to close registration as a last resort.

If things get nasty, then it may have to happen...otherwise, we just need to do our best to keep things civil.

A Smack thread would be a good idea. I think spurs fans are welcome in other threads, as long as they contribute to the discussions. If we ask a question, want talk basketball, or something about the series, then it would be nice to have other fans opinions.

If it ends up being "It won't matter since the suns suck" or something along those lines, then, I say give them a short leash. Let them know there is a thread for that, and if they do that outside the thread, then give them no tolerance.

To be clear - some "bans" may range from a "day" to "permanent" depending on what the poster did to get one after the warnings are issued.

Also keep in mind that some of their posts may actually get tossed into the trash when trying to do your own investigation of the crime scene.

On a side note:

"PeeWee's Love Child" is for a day.
"Midgetonadonkey" is for a month.

I don't mind value-added smack. Something clever, funny and truthful is appreciated even if it is against your team. Junk smack is frankly just a waste of disk space and time... and it does not require any intelligence or creativity at all. I can tolerate junk smack but can also live without it.

OK, I can't believe I'm actually going to say this, and I'll probably get laughed off the board, but here goes:

If we're going to make some concessions for trolls and fans of other teams to come here and talk smack against the Suns, then I wouldn't mind also seeing Andrew back for the playoffs. Sure he's a bit immature and whined a lot about not being able to see the games, but the kid sure is passionate about basketball, Shaq, and the Suns. If you weed out his TV issues, he raises a lot of good questions and discussion points.

I think Andrew's love of the game and the Suns should be as welcomed during the playoffs as much as Spurs' fans coming here and talking crap about us. Besides, he won't have to complain that he can't get the games, since all of our playoff games are gonna be on ABC, ESPN, or TNT. I'm pretty sure the dude has basic cable.

How do you want this moderated during the playoffs?

Do you want smack threads in the forum where Spurs fans can do some light smack talking (as long as they don't cross the line) or do you want all smack talk moved to the smack shack?

I would almost prefer a separate thread for smack talk. Only because once you open the flood gates I don't think there is any turning back. It could be extremely out of hand by then.

So if the idea is to have one forum for all in the smack shack and one in here for Suns fans only that works. At the very least the Suns fans would have a choice. If you don't have separate threads then Suns fans have no choices.

Just my 2 cents.
