How do you want this moderated during the playoffs?

Do you want smack threads in the forum where Spurs fans can do some light smack talking (as long as they don't cross the line) or do you want all smack talk moved to the smack shack?

As long as they keep it clean, I don't mind. It generates more buzz for the board.

I am fine with a moderate amount of smack in the Suns forum, as long as nobody gets out of line.

So would you guys like a "Official Game 1 Smack Thread" stickied post? That way the people who don't want to read it can go there?

I could live with this.

I don't want game threads or whatever filled with the crap that we have already seen.

Exactly my thoughts.

Sure, smack is fun, but if it ends up in a general game thread then that would not be cool at all. If it is just game thoughts from a Spurs fan in a game thread that's alright, but the smack can stay out of there.

There is a difference in intelligent smack talk and what the "trolls" have been doing today. I have no problem with Spurs fans talking trash as long as its not.

" Amare is dumb, lolz. Spurs champs once again"

and more...

" Amare really cost the Suns last year. You guys better hope hes matured as a player because if not, you guys will be in for a long series. "

Or even something in the middle.

agreed. if their smack is interesting and funny, more power to 'em. if it's just juvenile and sophomoric, pass.

This is the Spurs fans' signature argument. If you take that away, they got nothing left.

I feel bad for you Chris. You will have to work overtime in this forum. Let me know if I can help in any way.

This is an outstanding idea. I vote for this.

I can promise you that this will not happen. It hasn't happened in the last few years and it won't start now.

If you don't want to see opposing fans in here than you should say "move it all to the smack shack" because that is pretty much the same thing.

Except that won't happen either. There will be so many trolls scurrying around every thread (and making new ones), I daresay it will chase out some regulars.

Well the moderators can trash and move posts. It just requires the time and effort.

As someone who has read this forum for awhile before joining, I've never really been too bothered with opposing fans as long as they're discussing basketball. If they're simply trying to derail every topic with pointless smack, then it should definitely be moved to some kind of smack forum or thread, otherwise, I look forward to discussing the game with opposing fans who wish to do so.

Reporting those posts will help get a moderator's attention and like Chris_S says - those posts can get yanked to protect the thread.

I think suspending new registration and having a specific smack thread so it doesnt spread into every thread would work well. that way, the posters could read the threads with real content, discussion and to to the smack thread for the trash. Mixing the two tends to denigrate the content of the discussions, when real discussions occur.

We're only going to close registration as a last resort.

If things get nasty, then it may have to happen...otherwise, we just need to do our best to keep things civil.
