TCU redshirt sophomore running back Derrick Carroll has reportedly entered the transfer portal after three years with the Horned Frogs, according to Steven Johnson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, who was first to report the news. The brother of TCU redshirt sophomore linebacker and former four-star recruit Max Carroll, Derrick didn’t see game action in his three seasons with the Horned Frogs.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder from Memphis played his high school football at Briarcrest Christian. In high school, Carroll rushed for 313 yards in his career at Briarcrest, including 233 with six touchdowns as a senior. Carroll, who also played linebacker, totaled 86 tackles and one sack as a senior, plus 71 tackles as a junior. TCU is expected to lose senior running backs Kevorian Barnes and Trent Battle over the offseason. With Palmer and Carroll departing, TCU will look for sophomore Jeremy Payne and freshman Jon Denman, along with high school recruits G’Ivori Graham and Amante Martin, to step up as the Horned Frogs prepare for 2026.
