Flyers' Daniel Vladar gets $25 million contract update originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia Flyers are trying to secure a stalwart in goal.
Daniel Vladar has contract rumors swirling that would keep him in Philly for the next half decade.
The initial update came from ESPN's Kevin Weekes, suggesting it could be five years at $5 million per year:
Per sources, I’m told G Vladar and
the @NHLFlyers are working towards
closing in on a 5 Yr Contract Extension
that’s likely to land in the mid 5M AAV
range. #HockeyXpic.twitter.com/V0ubAjFEx1

The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun then added on to that report with news about why it might take a while to seem like anything becomes official here:
Still a bit of work to be done on the extension, but once done it can't be officially signed and announced until July 1 because Vladar has another year on his deal. Told once done, it will be in the 5-6 year range and as @KevinWeekes says, salary/cap hit in the 5's https://t.co/wd27U6YWHD

Vladar is a 28-year old goalie who just played his first season with Phialdelphia after previously suiting up for the Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames.
He went 29-14-7 in 2025-26 with a 90.6 save percentage and 2.42 goals against average.
Vladar improved almost all his numbers this past season, which points to a player the Flyers may want to secure. He isn't a guaranteed star in goal, but he can bring some consistency to that position for Philadelphia.
News about a deal in the works right now certainly seems to suggest that there's a good chance of a contract getting done.
