Florida State men’s basketball (15-14, 8-8) finishes off its road slate for the 2025-26 season with a late-night matchup away from home against Pitt (11-18, 4-12) at 9 PM.
The Seminoles are coming off a professional win against Georgia Tech last Saturday, their first of two road games. Thomas Bassong and Robert McCray V led the way for FSU, with the former recording a double-double and the latter keeping the Nole offense in rhythm whenever the Yellow Jackets tried to stage a comeback. It was not the cleanest display of basketball, and Luke Loucks’ team was bailed out a few times with GT being one of the worst high-major teams in college basketball, but it does give Florida State momentum heading into the final week of the regular season.

Tonight’s matchup is massive for both teams in the ACC standings, but for different reasons. The Noles are currently in a three-way tie in the conference standings for the final bye in the ACC tournament. While getting a bye would ensure the quarterfinal matchup, should FSU get there, would be a game against Duke, it would signify how far the program has come since the start of conference play. SMU, one of the teams tied with Florida State, plays Miami tonight before traveling to Tallahassee for the final game of the regular season. Virginia Tech, the other team knotted up with the Noles, played last night and defeated Boston College. On the other side of the floor, Pitt is tied with Notre Dame for the last spot in the conference tournament, but is currently in the field virtue of a tie-breaker when they defeated the Irish earlier in the year.
Florida State is a slight 1.5-point favorite over the Panthers, according to ESPN Bet.
How to watch:
Tonight’s game tips off at 9 PM ET on ACC Network.
Notes to know:
- While the line does not reflect it, FSU received a scheduling break. Pitt is coming off a week-long trip on the West Coast, where they lost to Stanford and defeated Cal. As the Seminoles learned the hard way a season ago, it is not always the trip that causes fatigue, but the first game back. Throw in the fact that this is a 9 PM start, and the Noles should be the better-rested team of the two, even though they are on the road for the second-straight game.
- The record may not reflect it, but Pitt has quietly played better basketball over the last month after a disastrous start to the season. The Panthers are winners of two of their last three, with victories against Notre Dame and Cal. Part of the turnaround has been better defensive play, as Pitt has held its last five opponents to 75 points or fewer.
Players to know:
- F Cam Corhen: Since transferring from Florida State two years ago, Corhen found a home at Pitt and has been the Panthers’ best player this season. The 6’10” senior leads the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game, up by almost two points from his average last year, to go along with 7.0 rebounds and the most minutes on the team. For a big man, Corhen does an excellent job staying out of foul trouble, but considering what FSU did to GT’s bigs on Saturday, that may be the game plan to try to take Corhen out of the game tonight.
- G Barry Dunning Jr.: Dunning Jr. began the season as a reserve, but slowly gained the trust of head coach Jeff Capel, culminating in playing 38 of 40 minutes against Stanford and 39 of 40 minutes versus Cal last week. The South Alabama transfer dropped 34 points combined during the California road trip and has reached double figures in five of his last six games.
