FSU pitcher Wes Mendes was named a Second Team All-American by Baseball America as part of the outlet's 2026 College All-America Teams. The recognition adds another prestigious honor to an already impressive season for the Seminoles' ace and further solidifies his standing as one of the nation's top pitchers.

The lefty emerged as the leader of Florida State's pitching staff throughout the 2026 campaign, helping guide the Seminoles to a No. 10 national seed and a host spot in the NCAA Tournament. The left-hander consistently delivered against some of the toughest competition in the ACC while establishing himself as one of the premier arms in college baseball.

The honor comes after a season in which Mendes earned ACC Pitcher of the Year recognition and finished among the conference leaders in multiple categories. He posted a 9-3 record while recording 125 strikeouts, serving as Florida State's Friday night starter and setting the tone for weekend series throughout the year.

Baseball America's All-America teams are among the most respected postseason honors in the sport, recognizing the top players across Division I baseball. Mendes' inclusion on the second team places him among an elite group of pitchers who excelled on the national stage during the 2026 season.

The recognition also reinforces Mendes' status as one of the top prospects available in the upcoming MLB Draft. D1Baseball recently ranked him No. 19 overall among its Top 250 College Prospects, making him the highest-ranked Seminole on the list and one of the top collegiate left-handed pitchers in the country.

While Florida State fell short of its ultimate postseason goals, Mendes' season will be remembered as one of the best by a Seminole pitcher in recent years. His combination of strikeout ability, command, and consistency helped anchor FSU's staff and played a major role in the program's return to national prominence under head coach Link Jarrett.

For Mendes, the Baseball America honor serves as another milestone in a standout season. For Florida State, it is further evidence that one of the nation's top pitchers wore garnet and gold in 2026.
