Florida softball ended its regular season on a whimper with a series loss at Georgia, but the Gators attention has already shifted to the SEC Tournament.

The conference’s regular season wrapped up Saturday evening, with the brackets revealed immediately after. Oklahoma won the SEC regular season title for the first time since joining the conference by one game over Alabama. The Sooners secured the outright crown with a series win over Texas A&M.

The Gators entered the weekend with a chance at the conference title, but they were doomed by a disastrous game and a half. UF blew a 7-2 lead in Friday’s loss to Georgia and were run-ruled Saturday for the first time this season.

The Crimson Tide overtook Florida for the conference’s No. 2 spot with a sweep of South Carolina. Still, UF secured the valuable double-bye into the quarterfinals as a top four seed.
