Florida baseball is expected to hire Oregon State pitching coach Rich Dorman, according to On3 outlet BeaversEdge.com.
A source told The Gainesville Sun that Florida is targeting Dorman, but the hire has not been finalized.
Dorman has been with the Beavers since 2019 and developed one of the top pitching staffs in the country. Oregon State's pitching finished the 2026 season ranked first in ERA (3.22), total strikeouts (699), WHIP (1.14) hits allowed per nine innings (6.94( and walks and hits per inning while finishing second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.55). This past year, Oregon State's staff broke the single-season school strikeout record with a program-record 699 strikeouts.
His tenure also included coaching National Pitcher of the Year, Cooper Hjerpe, who took the honor in 2022 after setting an Oregon State record with 161 strikeouts.
The moves comes after Florida fired pitching David Kopp, who had been with the program since 2021, but was in charge of the staff since 2024. Despite Aidan King being named SEC Pitcher of the Year, UF's pitching staff fell apart in the Gainesville Regional after allowing 43 runs and 49 hits.
The Gators' staff finished with a 4.61 ERA while recording 636 strikeouts and 198 walks, but only four pitchers finished with ERAs below four.
Prior to Oregon State, Dorman spent three seasons as the pitching coach at Grand Canyon University and eight years in the Seattle Mariners organization.
