Florida baseball is expected to hire Oregon State pitching coach Rich Dorman in the same capacity.

Ryan Harlan of Beavers Edge first reported the news on Thursday, and several reports confirmed it in the days since. Although no official announcement has been made, Dorman has updated his social media profiles to indicate the change.

Dorman spent the last six years coaching the Beavers' pitchers, overseeing 10 All-Americans, including 2022 National Pitcher of the Year Cooper Hjerpe. Oregon State ranked first nationally with a 3.22 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP as a team. Three Beavers ranked inside the national top 10 for ERA, all carrying a 2.22 or better.

Oregon State's pitching staff broke the program strikeout record in consecutive years under Doran — 611 in 2021 and 628 in 2022. The Beavers set a new record last season with 699 strikeouts as a team.

Before working with college teams, Dorman coached at the professional level. He mentored pitchers such as Taijuan Walker, Pablo Lopez, Emilio Pagan, Freddy Peralta, Zach Littell and James Paxton. Dorman started his college coaching career with Grand Canyon. He pitched professionally for nine seasons, reaching as high as Triple-A with the Seattle Mariners.

Dorman replaces David Kopp as Florida's pitching coach. It remains to be seen whether he will call pitches or if that job will remain with Kevin O'Sullivan.
