Florida baseball added its first infielder from this year’s transfer portal class on Tuesday, June 16.
The Gators earned a commitment from Utah Tech’s Kyle McDaniel, who made the announcement on social media. McDaniel hit .340 with seven home runs and drove in 53 runs. He also swiped 17 bases and drew 43 walks.
This is Florida's fourth commitment from the portal this offseason, and the second of the day after Oregon-State left-handed pitcher Trey Morris made his announcement earlier.
McDaniel holds the school’s NCAA-era record for the longest on-base streak at 49 games and featured a 22-game hitting streak.
The junior primarily played second base the last two seasons but started at third base during his freshman year.
Pahrump, Nevada native was named to the All-WAC first-team, but is eligible for the upcoming MLB Draft.
McDaniel was a three-year starter for Utah Tech and earned all-conference honors last season.
