Florida left-handed pitcher Rivers Kurland is entering the transfer portal, according to Baseball America's Jacob Rudner.

Kurland did not appear in a game for the Gators this season, allowing him to redshirt and retain four years of eligibility. Prior to signing with Florida, Kurland was committed to Florida State.

The southpaw broke the career strikeout record at Berkeley Prep with 387 over four seasons. He finished his high school career with a 27-7 record, 1.35 ERA, .177 BAA and just 69 walks over 280 2/3 innings. As a senior, he carried a 0.42 ERA and struck out 118 to 25 walks. Kurland only allowed two home runs over his four years with Berkeley Prep.

Perfect Game ranked Kurland the No. 15 left-handed pitcher in the 2025 class. He is the younger brother of former Florida second baseman Cade Kurland, who is also in the transfer portal.

With his departure, Florida has just two left-handers on its roster. Eli Blair and Jackson Hoyt are returning, but a trio of freshmen is on the way. Colin White, Carter Cox and Tyler Ellis are all signed with Florida out of the 2026 class. Kevin O'Sullivan said left-handed pitching would be a priority in this transfer cycle, too.

Other Florida Gators in the transfer portal

Florida has already seen five arms depart for the transfer portal. McCall Biemiller, Matthew Jenkins and Cooper Moss announced on Monday, the first day the portal opened, and Christian Rodriguez followed on Thursday. Cooper Walls hit the transfer portal on Friday.

Florida lost starting second baseman Cade Kurland to the transfer portal on Saturday. Infielder Kolt Myers and outfielder Blake Brookins are the two other position players to enter the transfer portal so far.

Florida earned its first transfer commitment from former FGCU catcher Jon Embury, the 2026 ASUN Player of the Year, on Thursday.
