i'd try and land the best rt and rb in the draft

if we're drafting at #5 i trade back to get my rt with my next priority being runningback

if someone says speed receiver they might get blocked lol i just can't hear that noise - i have a new center being more important

but first - whether gannon stays or goes petzing has to walk the plank - whole offensive staff adios

RB is interesting because it needs to be addressed but waiting until the draft seems pretty risky.

I could see them electing to sign Breece Hall/Rico Dowdle/Tyler Allgeier/Ken Walker in FA and then focus on other spots in the top 60 of the draft.

If the Cardinals are drafting top 5, the board is probably (in no particular order) Mendoza, Moore, Simpson, Reese, Bailey, and then debates between Woods, Bain, Fano, and Mauigoa if only two QBs declare.

That is what people were saying when McBride was selected in the 2nd round. Who thinks that now?

Defenses move pass rushers to both sides, so you need 2 good tackles. The longer I watch football the more importance I put on the offensive and defensive lines. A good line makes everyone's job behind them easier. A bad line makes everyone's job more difficult.
Darnell Wright picked #10 is playing at a Pro Bowl level for Bears. :)

I want the kind of runnongback that doesn't reach free agency

It depends what the brief is. I wouldn’t trust a rookie QB to lead me to the playoffs. I have no problem with some of these James Conner-quality guys at a mid-tier, two-year contract paired with a rookie mid-round pick tho.

I don't remember that about McBride. I remember bitching about Troy Niklas and taking a blocking TE in round 2. McBride was never considered a blocking TE. People might not have liked the pick, but positionally, it was fine.

Not sure why the Jets wouldn't re-sign Hall, but Dowdle, Allgeier, and Walker are in platoon situations, and with the Panthers already having paid Hubbard as their long-term #1 and the Falcons presumably committed to Robinson as their long-term #1, if Dowdle and Allgeier reach free agency it's no knock on them. Dunno whether Seattle would let Walker walk (haha), but again if they did it wouldn't reflect badly on him if they decide not to pay him a lot of money on a 2nd contract when they have Charbonnet on his rookie contract for another year.

Edit: just checked and I see that Allgeier is averaging a career-worst 3.5 y/a (career 4.3) at the same time that Robinson is averaging 5.1 (career 4.8). Yuck.

On the other hand, Walker is averaging a career-best 4.6 y/a (career 4.3) while Charbonnet is averaging a career-worst 3.5 (career 4.0)... which means the Seahawks most likely would retain Walker.

Meanwhile, Hubbard is averaging a lousy 3.9 y/a (career 4.2) and is being blown away by Dowdle's 4.8 (career 4.6). Dowdle, then Walker if available, would seem to be the most desirable FA RB targets.

Get the QB in round one. Trade up if necessary...but keep this year's second...it should be around 38...and there should be an OT that's a great pick at that spot this year.
But like DVontel said...don't go into the draft with the hole...sign a FA RT, then draft a guy in the 2nd...let the rookie and the FA battle for RT1 in camp...then put whoever loses that battle at RG.

Lol…FA RT.
I digress. We need to sign a RT plus one more o-lineman. Draft a qb to sit and learn behind Brissett. Add a rb and a big speedy(not Zay Jones.)
Hopefully Rieman can return.
This is the very MINIMUM have to do.

Unlikely to do both unless we trade away next year's 1st as well. Since we are perpetually bad, I don't think I'd ever trade our 1st away straight up.

I’d make that deal if it was one pick straight up, but now there are only 2 targets for that strategy.

A genuine camp competition between a rookie right tackle and a free agent right tackle probably only happens if the free agent isn't signed to that big of a contract.
