The 2025 NFL Draft is set to begin on Thursday night in Green Bay, and a whole new crop of collegiate athletes will be making their dream of getting to the NFL a reality. For the Spartans, the team has a handful of talented players, both past and present, that could potentially hear their names get called during the upcoming draft.

Jonathan Smith and his coaching staff did a very good job of taking talent and putting it in a spot to get drafted during their tenure at Oregon State, and now, the same staff will look to bring that same touch to East Lansing. In 2025, this is the first crack Smith and company will have at seeing their players get drafted during their time in the green and white.

Going into the draft, their are only a handful of Spartans who appear to be an option to get selected during the 3-day 7-round NFL draft. Check out who from the Spartans program could see their name called on draft day:

OL Luke Newman

Newman is a player that has seen his stock skyrocket during this offseason. The Holy Cross transfer and Bloomfield Hills native had a very successful season in East Lansing, and has now shown off his plus athleticism that has allowed him to rise on many draft bords across America.

It feels pretty certain that the Spartans offensive lineman will be hearing his name called, but when the name is called is yet to truly be determined.

K Jonathan Kim

Someone who has seen his stock drastically improve in his two years in East Lansing, Jonathan Kim came from North Carolina and has been one of the best kickers in the country. Bolstering a 32-for-39 (82.4%) field goal record, with a long of 58-yards, Kim certainly has a leg for the NFL.

RB Nate Carter

Another player that has used this offseason and draft workouts to raise his stock, Nathan Carter is a player that went from an underwhelming senior season to a potential draft pick. Carter's insane athleticism, paired with modern running back skills, has him positioned in a spot to find himself potentially getting drafted.

His MSU career saw him run the ball 301 times for 1,297 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also caught 40 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns.

Edge Khris Bogle

While the production was not always there, Bogle is a player that has the body type and athleticism to potentially get a look from the NFL. Similarly to Ben VanSumeren, who is seeing success with the Philadelphia Eagles, despite the lack of true production the Florida transfer had at MSU, he could be more than useful to an NFL team.

CB Ed Woods

Ed Woods was a highly coveted transfer from Arizona State that chose Michigan State over Alabama. While the overall success for the team was not great, Woods found some success in playing his position as an outside cornerback.

Woods showed that he can get down into the run game and support, while also playing good coverage, something NFL teams covet. He had 49 tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack and three pass defends in 2024.
