The Atlanta Falcons felt it was time for change after missing the playoffs for the eighth season in a row. Team owner and CEO Arthur Blank brought Matt Ryan back as the president of football before hiring general manager Ian Cunningham and head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Atlanta lacked the salary cap space to make any major moves, but the team signed dozens of low-risk, high-upside free agents. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, wide receiver Jahan Dotson, edge Azeez Ojulari and right tackle Jawaan Taylor all joined the team over the offseason.
In terms of offseason departures, the Falcons moved on from linebacker Kaden Elliss, defensive tackle David Onyemata, edge Arnold Ebiketie and quarterback Kirk Cousins. However, not every member of last year's team has found a new home yet.
Here's a look at the five former Falcons players who are still available in NFL free agency.
The biggest name of the bunch is Leonard Floyd. The veteran edge rusher split starter reps last season but was replaced by the Falcons' rookie duo of Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. With Pearce's likely suspension looming, it's a bit surprising that the team did not bring back Floyd.
Linebacker Josh Woods is another name that we wouldn't be surprised to see back in Atlanta at some point. He's an experienced veteran who played well when given the opportunity last season. Veteran wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge also remains unsigned. Hodge didn't play a big role on offense, but has been a consistent special teams contributor.
There's still plenty of time for these players to catch on with another team before training camp kicks off in July. As we just examined, the team has a few extra bucks after signing Drake London to a four-year, $141 million extension.
Over the Cap currently lists the Falcons with around $28 million available.
