In one week, Tahlequah girls golf has played in two tournaments and walked away with two wins.
First, the Lady Tigers took the win at Coweta, then wrapped up the week winning their home meet, Thursday, April 2. Led by Kylie Fisher's first-place 72 finish, the Lady Tigers' 356 beat the Owasso Rams by two strokes in a field of 11 teams.
"All of the girls played well in windy, adverse conditions," THS coach Stan King said. "Playing at home always puts pressure on a team to perform well and they handled it."
The win for Fisher is also the second of the week for the Lady Tigers' No. 1 bag.
Through 18 holes, Fisher picked up six birdies, starting with a four on the par 5 hole two. Over the final six holes on the back nine, the freshman had four birdies for a 33.
Fisher picked up one birdie on the back nine to secure a 39 for the even-par finish. The Lady Tigers' leading scorer beat the next closest golfer by nine strokes.
"Everyone recognizes how talented Kylie is; she exhibits talent and maturity well beyond her years," King said. "I expect great success for her as well as the rest of the team."
Taylor Grogan also came in with a top-10 finish for THS. Grogan's 92 was good for ninth place, which was highlighted by four pars through the first five holes.
Senior Vivie Hauser and junior Fisher Davis tied for 15th, both coming in with a 96. Miracle Munoz rounded out the Lady Tigers golfers with a 122.
Two other Cherokee County teams also competed in the event.
Sequoyah finished the day in sixth place, posting a score of 413. Keys finished the day in 10th place, shooting 468.
Kodee Bearpaw-Pritchett led the Lady Indians, shooting an 89. Kylee Pritchett and Jayden Travis were the next lowest scorers for SHS, both coming in with 107s.
Aiyanna Washington was the fourth-lowest scorer for the Lady Indians, shooting a 110. Olivia Mankiller rounded out the Lady Indians with a 121.
For Keys, Ebbie Malott led with a 108; Summit Deem was next, shooting a 111; Tayla Conn shot a 124; McKinzi Sweet finished with a 127; and Akya Lucas a 139.
THS is back in action at the Muskogee Invitational.
