The Texas Longhorns had 12 players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, with the Ohio State Buckeyes having the most with 14.
On Thursday, ESPN's Jordan Reid started to think ahead to the 2026 NFL Draft, releasing a mock. He did not have Arch Manning in his mock draft and instead had Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. as the first Longhorn player selected.
Hill was taken at No. 11 by the Carolina Panthers after Reid predicted a trade with the Los Angeles Rams and Atlanta Falcons.
Hill just finished his second season with Texas, leading the Longhorns with 113 total tackles.

"After the projected trade down, the Panthers would acquire extra draft capital and still have the chance to select Hill, the type of rangy middle linebacker that Carolina currently lacks," Reid said. "He's explosive with great range. His play speed and ability to sift through traffic make Hill a true sideline-to-sideline off-ball linebacker. But he can also get into the backfield, as his 15.5 tackles for loss were the 17th most among all FBS defenders in 2024. Carolina could use Hill as a blitzer."
Hill was a former five-star prospect in the 2023 class and the No. 2 linebacker in the On3 Industry Rankings. He is a Texas native hailing from Denton.
He took home various honors in 2024, earning a Second-Team All-American selection from AP, Walter Camp, The Sporting News and AFCA.
Manning is the expected quarterback starter for Texas after Quinn Ewers left for the NFL. Ewers was Texas' starting quarterback for three seasons and accounted for 9,128 passing yards, 68 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.
The 2026 NFL Draft will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from April 23-25.
