The 2024-25 season is in the books for the Philadelphia 76ers, which means it is the time to look back on the season that was for each player. The Sixers finished 24-58 as they missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2016-17 season amid a slew of injuries.

The Sixers used a grand total of 30 players throughout the season and an NBA record 53 starting lineups. This series will focus on the 15 players on standard deals and the three on two-way deals to finish the season--not anybody who finished the season on a 10-day deal.

Up next in this series is deadline acquisition Quentin Grimes. The Sixers brought him in from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Caleb Martin and they saw immediate benefits as Grimes was able to unlock his full game. He played 28 games with 25 starts for the Sixers after the trade.

Here is a final grade and overview for Grimes during his time in Philadelphia:

Grimes' Sixers overview

The Sixers needed somebody to take over the scoring load with so many players sidelined and Grimes did just that. From the literal jump, he was aggressive with his offense being able to take guys off the dribble, knock down tough shots, and show off a playmaking aspect he never had before. The 4.5 assists he averaged is well above his career average of 2.0. Of course, the ball won't be in his hands in the 2025-26 season--if he returns in free agency-- but the Sixers know they can turn to him in tough moments on offense when the stars are sidelined.

Grimes highlights

It came in a loss to the Houston Rockets during the team's 6-game road trip in March, but Grimes was phenomenal inside the Toyota Center. He scored a career-high 46 points--topping the 44 he scored on March 1 against the Golden State Warriors--and had 13 rebounds in the tough overtime loss. Grimes did everything he could in this one and the Rockets didn't have an answer.

Final grade

In the 28 games Grimes played, he made sure to put his best foot forward every time out. He morphed into a leader for this bunch and one has to believe he will be a priority for Philadelphia to bring back in free agency. He can fit in nicely with the team's star trio and the expectation is that he will be a role player for them. The Sixers can also turn to him when the stars are sidelined with any injuries.
