FC Barcelona star ‘doesn’t care’ who Real Madrid sign, vows to compete for every title

Amid Real Madrid’s massive summer signing spree, one FC Barcelona star is unfazed by their rival’s bringing in reinforcements.

Los Blancos have spent a lot of money to sign big-name players like Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Yan Diomande, with more signings to come.

This push from recently re-elected president Florentino Perez is seemingly in response to their rivals, FC Barcelona, winning back-to-back La Liga titles while they have gone trophyless.

FC Barcelona defender Gerard Martin unbothered by Real Madrid signings​

Speaking to Spanish outlet COPE, FC Barcelona defender Gerard Martin was asked about Real Madrid signing several players, including the possibility of them signing Rodri from Manchester City.

While he praised the calibre of players Real Madrid were signing, he seemed overall uninterested in their transfer activity, focusing on competing with their rivals instead.

“Let them sign whoever they want. Frankly, I don’t care who Real Madrid signs. We only focus on ourselves. We will compete as we do every year.”

Clearly, the confidence of getting the better of Real Madrid six times out of the last seven across the past two seasons has resonated with Martin.

While the players Madrid have signed certainly make them more dangerous, until they face each other on the pitch, there is no reason for Barcelona to fear their rivals.

FC Barcelona’s transfer activity has disappointed their fans​

While their players have no reason to fear or envy Real Madrid’s spending spree, the same cannot be said about the FC Barcelona fan base.

Barcelona have made just two major signings this summer, reinforcing the attacking by signing Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.

However, they haven’t strengthened the defence or the striker position, two positions that desperately need more depth.

Barca’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez has seemingly hit a dead end, while the team has not made any notable overtures to defenders either.

Understandably, fans of Barcelona are concerned by their lack of transfers, especially after seeing their rivals strengthen all positions on the field.
